osteoporosis- vitamin D, 1500 mg calcium, wt bearing exercise recommended
What are some common nutrition deficiencies in those with gastric cancer
B12 (check serum B12 or serum MMa + hcy) iron (check serum iron) folate (check rbc and folate)
What nutrients beneficial for CRC
calcium, vitamin D, folic acid (before dx only unless los f/v intake and suspect deficiency)
If terminal ileum is resected what nutrients may be low
B12, ADEK, Ca, Zn, Mg, bile sequesterants
If J-pouch present
watch for pouchitis, encourage antidiarrheal meds
Kcal and protein for HCC
35-40 kcal/kg cirrhosis
35 kcal/kg for encephalopathy
30-40 for malnourished
1-1.5 g/kg protein except for encephalopathy 0.6-0.8 g/kg
3-15 kg extra body wt depending on ascites
