Compound words
Words that contain more than one word root.
(ex. the combining form is gastr/o, meaning the stomach + the word root is enter which means intestine + the suffix itis meaning inflammation.= gastroenteritis and this means inflammation of the stomach and intestine.)
(ex. the combining form encephal/o meaning the brain + the word root mening, the meninges + the suffix itis meaning inflammation = encephalomeningitis = inflammation of the brain and meninges)
