Chapter 2 - Project Life Cycle Flashcards
Type of project life cycle that require scope, schedule, and cost to be determined in detail early in the life of the project, before the work begins to produce the project deliverables
Plan-driven Project, have predictive life cycles (i.e waterfall or traditional life cycle); You may go through the overall project management process throughout the project for small projects but can also need to do it for each phase for large projects
Characteristic of a Change-driven Project
1) Have varying levels of early planning for scope, schedule and cost
2) Use iterative, incremental, and adaptive (agile) life cycles
Full change driven project life cycle; Involve fixed time and cost, and scope is broadly defined; Involves backlog which is prioritized and adjusted as project progresses
Adaptive (agile) life cycle
Involves early planning of high-level scope sufficient to allow for preliminary estimates of time and cost; scope is developed a little more with each iteration
Incremental and Iterative project life cycle
Delivers a complete, usable portion of the product for each iteration (e.g delivery functional portions of the website)
Incremental PLC
Complete concept is built in successive details to create end result (e.g prototype of the entire website is built)
Iterative PLC
