prayer of understanding of God’s revelation to us of the purpose of Christian life and the truths of the faith

“change of heart”; or “repentance”
Petition/Supplication
requesting God to aid us and/or others
Thanksgiving
praise and gratitude for the good and the blessings God has given us

How is A.C.T.S. a helpful prayer technique?
It keeps our minds from wandering and it reminds us of what to include in prayer
What do we discover when we pray consistently?
Jesus is always there for us and He will help us get through any situation.
How do we feel Jesus’ support?
Through prayers and others.
Why is the Lord’s Prayer called the “Lord’s Prayer”?
because it was given to us by Jesus and it sums up the entire Gospel.
What does the Lord’s Prayer teach?
Prayer is directed to the Father, and we are His children.
What does the Lord’s Prayer remind us of?
Reminds us that we are to forgive all others if we want forgiveness.
What is the Lord’s Prayer a model for?
all prayer
How are we connected to God?
He created us in his likeness and he placed in us a desire to know him and to be with him.,
3 examples of Jesus praying…
for guidance when calling the apostles, on the cross before he died, and when raising Lazarus
2 ways we must imitate Jesus if we are praying for a change of heart…
we must accept each other regardless of our differences, and we must love our enemies

Vocal Prayer
a “conversation” with God, or the angels, and saints; formed with words of some set formula(s)…ex: Hail Mary, Glory Be, Our Father, ect.
Dryness (in prayer)
difficulty in contemplation prayer when the heart is separated from God, with no taste for thoughts, memories, and feelings (even spiritual ones).
