How can we best come to know reality?
Through rationalism and empiricism
What does the question that philosophy asks?
What is the nature of reality?
What is rationalism
When you make conclusions on something based off of simple and obvious concepts
Rationalism is basically a?
Theory
What is empiricism?
When you use your senses to experiment what is going on
Empiricism is basically?
Data collection
What is the nature of reality?
Looking at the world through subjective and objective ways
What is subjective?
Thinking in a different way. Kind of thinking outside the box
What is objective mean?

What are the 2 different research methods?
Doing it nomothetic or ideolographic
What is nomothetic?
Studying groups of people
What is ideolographic?
Studying one or few people
Quantitative goes with what research method?
Nomothetic
Qualitative goes with what research method?
Ideolographic
Empiricum goes with what research method?
Nomothetic
Phenomenology goes with what research method?
Ideolographic
1st research method is?
Verification/ repeated observation
2nd research method is??
Operational definition
3rd research method is?
Independent and dependent variable
4th research method is?
Experimental control
5th research method is?
Group assignment
What is verification/ repeatable experiment mean? And why do you need it?
Make sure the experiment isn’t just based from luck. This is helpful in reducing experimental BIAS
What is operational definition?
Defining something from specific methods used to measure
What is a quasi experiment.
An experiment where there is no random groups.
What is a single subject experiment?
One that has a single individual being studied but still has a control. Think back the the feedback example. Control was the part of time where the player was not getting feedback
What is correlation study?
One in which 2 things are being compared
Can a correlation study be 100% validated?
Nooo! There could be a 3rd variable
In the female non athlete study what was the IV
Aerobic training
In the female non athlete study what was the DV
Effect of stress
In the flow for exercise adherance study what was the IV?
Flow
In the exercise adherence study what was the DV?
Exercise adherance
