Achondroplasia
Autosomal dominant defect in collagen type I synthesis
Osteogenesis imperfecta
Mutation in Carbonic anhydrase II. Anemia, thrombocytopenia, leukopenia, hydrocephalus and renal tubular acidosis.
Osteopetrosis
Defective mineralization of osteoid due to low levels of vitamin D. Low serum Ca na phosphate, high PTH and alkaline phosphatase
Rickets/osteomalacia
Reduction in Trabecular bone mass. Bone pain and fractures in weight-bearing areas. Serum Ca, PO3, PTH and alk phosphatase are nml.
Osteoporosis
Thick, sclerotic bone that fractures easily - mosaic patter of lamellar bone. Increasing hat size. Isolated elevated alkaline phosphatase.
Paget Disease of Bone.
Bone Pain, fever, leukocytosis, abscess. Most ocmmon cause is S. auresus.
Osteomyelitis
