What is a hypervisor
Full virtualization to manage complex interactions. Pass code from virtual machine to the actual CPU. Also called type 2 hypervisor
What is Emulation
software or hardware that converts the commands to and from the host machine into an entirely different platform
What makes a bare metal hypervisor unique
This is a powerful hypervisor/OS combination, essentially an OS that is a hypervisor. Also called type 1 hypervisor
What is a storage area network
a server that can take a pool of hard disks and present them over the network as any number of logical disks.
They can be mapped to a number of physical drives in a number of physical locations
Define Fibre Channel
Has its own cables, protocols, and switches.
Define iSCSI
enables devices that use SCSI protocol to communicate across existing networks using cheap, readily available hardware. Frame headers are actually jumbo frames (9000 bytes long)
Define Software defined networking
Cuts the control plane of individual devices out of the picture and lets an all-knowing program dictate how both phyusical and virtual network components move traffic through the network
What is a network controller used for
it dictates how both physical and virtual network component moves traffic through the network
Define Infrastructure as a service
providers use virtualization to minimize idle hardware, protect against data loss and downtime, and responds to spikes in demand
Define Platform as a Service
providers give programmers all the tools they need to deploy, administer, and maintain a web application
Define Software as a service
provides access to necessary applications wherever you have an internet connection
