Chapter 14 - Water Quality Testing Flashcards
A sample containing all the constituents that are in the water from which it was taken.
Representative Sample
A single water sample collected at one time from a single point.
Grab Sample
A series of individual or grab samples taken at different times from the same sampling point and mixed together.
Composite Sample
A plan for a laboratory operation that specifies the measures used to produce data of known precision and bias.
Quality Assurance (QA)
A laboratory program for continually checking techniques and calibrating instruments to enable consistency in analytical results.
Quality Control (QC)
A written record of the sampler’s history of SWDA compliance, from the time of collection to the time of analysis and subsequent disposal.
Chain of Custody
The oxygen dissolved in water, wastewater, or other liquid; usually expressed in milligrams per liter, parts per million, or percent saturation.
