The president has 4 options about what they can do with a bill
- sign bill into law
- veto and send back to congress
- take no action (becomes law after 10 days)
- pocket veto
When congress in not into session for 10 days and bill dies

If the president vetoes a bill, congress can do what?
Override!!
How many members must approve a bill when going against a presidential veto
2/3 of members present
If the first chamber can’t override the veto…
Bill dies
If the first chamber gets 2/3 vote then the second chamber does what?
Second chamber goes to vote
If the second chamber can’t override…
Bill dies
If the second chamber overrides…
Bill becomes a law without presidential approval
Passed by house or senate and establishes rules, regulations, and practices without the force of law
