chapter 13- cardiovascular Flashcards
functions
generate BP, separate circulation into pulmonary and systemic, alters force of contraction to adjust to metabolic needs
pericardium
double layered sac surrounding heart (tough, fibrous outer layer lined by delicate serous membrane) –> epicardium, myocardium, endocardium
heart chambers
right atrium (deoxy from IVC, SVC, coronary sinus) –> right ventricle (deoxy), left atrium (oxy from pulmonary veins) –> left ventricle (oxy)
atrioventricular heart valve
between atria and ventricles right-tricuspid, left-bicuspid, chord tendinae
semilunar heart valve
aortic between L vent and aorta, pulmonary between R vent and pulmonary trunk
coronary circuit
blood to myocardium, blood leaves aorta passes through right and left ventricles, passes through coronary circuit, and goes back to atrium
