Men between the ages of 18-25 working for the forestry service planting trees to prevent a repeat of the Dust Bowl, fighting forest fires, and building reservoirs
Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC)
Between 1935 and 1941, Large public works program building new roads, public buildings, parks, bridges, and many controversial art projects.
Works Progress Administration (WPA)
A strike in which workers stop working and refuse to leave the factory.
“Sit-down strike”
Financial security provided by the government for older Americans and unemployed workers.
Social Security Act
Abandoning a balanced budget and borrowing money to pay for programs.
Deficit Spending
Politicians from both parties who opposed the New Deal and “teach the necessity of respect for the rights of person and property.”
American Liberty League
The President attempting to appoint judges who will rule in favor of his or her policies.
“Court-packing”
