What are the 3 stages of learning a skill?
-COGNITIVE: requires much thinking, relies on extensive instruction, poor performance and low consistency
-ASSOCIATIVE: connecting cause and effect to make their own corrections, less errors and more consistent
-AUTONOMOUS: automatic skill, instinctive, expert, high proficiency
What is the difference between intrinsic feedback and extrinsic feedback?
Intrinsic is felt in the movement, whereas extrinsic is feedback given by an outside source, like a coach
What is bandwidth feedback?
Allow for an acceptable margin of error, and then only provide feedback when they surpass the margin of error
What is summary feedback?
Feedback after 5 repetitions
What is blocked practice?
Works on 1 skill at a time. Ideal for beginners
