Q

How can you drive more economically?

A

Motor traffic one of the main causes of environmental pollution

  1. Do not run engine idle needlessly
  2. Do not play around with acc. pedal when waiting
  3. Do not drive engine at a high rpm –> change to the correct gear in time
  4. Drive with foresight to avoid frequent gear changes and braking
  5. Do not drive too fast
  6. Keep distance –> avoids acc. and braking needlessly
  7. Engine in good condition
  8. Tyres with correct pressure
  9. Slow down before bend –> acc. uniformly halfway through the bend
  10. don’t have A.C. and window heating needlessly on
  11. Use cruise control

Q

Why is maintenance important for the environment? When should you get an inspection?

A

Regular maintenance ensures that your car is in good condition –> limit emission of harmful substances

As soon as you notice one of the following, get an inspection:

  1. Fuel consumption increases
  2. Engine runs irregularly
  3. Dark thick smoke comes from the exhaust

Q

Under what conditions does the catalytic converter work optimally?

A

It operates optimally after 10-15min of driving –> basically the car needs to warm up

Q

What are tyre labels? what does it consist of?

A

Used to improve people’s awareness of tyre safety, fuel efficiency and exterior noise emission

  1. Fuel efficiency –> rolling resistance –> Scale from A to G –> A being most efficient and G the least
  2. Tyre safety –> braking performance on a wet road surface –> Scale from A to G –> A being most efficient and G the least
  3. Noise emissions –> Uses bars (3 in total) –> 1 Bar = Low, 2 Bars = average and 3 bars = high.

2 Bar tyre makes twice as much noise as 1 bar tyre.
