He brought measles to a mission that ended up killing many Native children

the first large scale migration to Oregon
Why did the Great Migration occur?
tens of thousands of people moved to Oregon in the 1840s due to the Panic of 1837

about 5 months…they traveled about 1-2 mph…about 100 miles/week

He dressed as an ordinary soldier and hid in a marsh. He was captured by a soldier who did not recognize him…identity was revealed in prison

Santa Anna signed a treaty recognizing Texas’s independence
