Leadership effectiveness (how is it measured)
Overall performance of the organization for which the leader is responsible, and the satisfaction of subordinates in the organization

Character traits leadership theory, behavior-based leadership theory
Character Traits Leadership Theory
Physical energy, intelligence greater than the average of followers led, prosocial influence (inherent traits of leaders, born with it)
Behavior-Based Leadership Theory
“Behavior/style” of leaders (can be mimicked, not born with it)
Task-oriented leadership
Leaders who primarily focus on the tasks to be done
Person-oriented leadership
Leaders who primarily focus on building relationships with others in the organization, including subordinates
Leadership Context
The sum of factors holding the potential to influence leadership or its outcomes
Leader-member relations (good/poor)
The extent to which followers like, trust, and are loyal to their leader.
Task structure (high/low)
The extent to which subordinates understand what task is to be accomplished, and how to do it
Position power (strong/weak)
The amount of legitimate, reward, and coercive power a leader has by virtue of his/her relationship
Types and purpose of communication (5) (who, how many, why)
Organizational, interpersonal, one-way, two-way, inform/influence/persuade/motivate
Methods of communication
Verbal, written, non-verbal

-Identify goals
