What is actualization
Tendency to develop capabilities in ways that maintain or enhance organisms
What is self-actualization
Promotes maintenance or enhancement of the self, moving a person towards greater autonomy and self-sufficiency, and promoting congruence, organization, wholeness and integration
Unconditioned positive regard
Given without any conditions or contingencies
Conditioned positive regard
Given only in situations that meet particular conditions
Conditions of worth
Conditioned under which a person is considered worthy of regard

Application of conditions of self worth to self
What are the conditions of worth
- Conditions under which people judged as worthy of positive regard
- Conditional self-regard is accepting oneself only under certain conditions
- Attempts to fulfil conditions of worth can interfere with self-actualization
- Coercive preconditions for acceptance
What is contingent self worth
People sometimes place conditions of worth on themselves and can have a motivating effect on each other. Holding on to contingencies is stressful and can disrupt relationships
