Q

What are the layers of the epidermis

A
  • divided into layers called strate
  • includes:

1) stratum basule
- >stem cells(for keratinoocytes) and is responsible for forming keratin

2) stratum spinosum
- >the layer is referred to as the site of Langerhans cells

3) stratum granulosum
- >where the karetinocytes die and lose their nuclei

Q

What are Merkle cells, Meissner corpuscles, Ruffini endings and Pacinian corpuscles responsible for? Note that all these cells are in the dermis layer(most sensory receptors are located in the dermis)

A

Merkle

  • > these cells are connected to sensory neurons
  • > responsible for deep pressure and texture sensations

Meissner
->light touch

Ruffin endings
->respond to stretch

Pacinian corpuscles
->deep pressure and vibration
