P= patient, population or problem: how would I describe a group of patients similar to mine? what group do I want info on?
I= intervention or exposure or topic of interest: which main intervention am I considering. what event do I want to study the effect of?
C=comparison or alternate intervention:what is the main alternative to compare with the intervention?
O= outcome: what can I hope to accomplish, measure, improve or affect? what is the effect of the intervention?
T= time or time frame: how much time is required to demonstrate an outcome? how long are participants observed?
