Departmentalization
refers to grouping organizational members and resources together to achieve the work for larger org.
Functional Departmentalization
occurs when members of an organization are placed into the same department based on skills and resources.
Divisional Departmentalization
occurs when members of an org. are grouped together by product or service they provide, similar customers, or geographic regions
Hybrid
occurs when an organization has both functional and Divisional departments.
Matrix
is a type of Hybrid structure in which members are simultaneously assigned to functional and divisional departments.
Network structure
a fairly complex structure of organizations who are linked with other organizations that provide essential goods or services.
Virtual Structures
is one where members come and go on a “as-needed” basis. Like Hollywood movie shoot.
Switching
is the extent to which a Virtual Org. changes over time.
Experimentation
is the emphasis placed on an ongoing voluntary implementation of new ways of performing tasks on a trial basis.
Sensitization
is the emphasis on searching for and responding to needs and opportunities in order to improve the status quo.
