Subject Matter
Matter under consideration in a written work or speech; a theme
Sculpture in the round
Sculpture giving the full form, as of man; statuary, distinguished from relief
Low relief sculpture
A sculpture that projects very little from the background. Also called bas-relief, basso-relievo.
High relief sculpture
When a sculpture projects the background in at least half their depth.
Medium
The material from which any given object is made
Ephemeral
Lasting for a brief time
Idealization
The representation of natural objects, scenes, etc. in such a way to show their most important characteristics
Expressionism
A movement in the arts during the early part of the 20th century that emphasized subjective expression of the artist’s inner experiences
Realism
Representing art or literature as it actually is
Illusionism
The doctrine that the material world is an immaterial product of the senses
Archeology
