The Case
A
Maria is a nursing student in her final clinical nursing course. She is assigned to provide care for a 72yo female, Mrs Malone, on the rehabilitation unit. Mrs. Malone came to the unit following surgery for repair of a left hip fracture. She has improved strength, ability to walk and perform ADLs after being in rehab for 2 week, and is going home soon. Maria focused her nursing care plan on discharge teaching for Mrs. Malone. Mrs. Malone told Maria that she is excited about going home at the end of the week. This morning Maria is participating in the interdisciplinary team meeting to discuss Mrs. Malone’s upcoming discharge
