Professionalism
Principled, value based decision making.
Ethical behavior
Actions a person takes to deprive another individual or group of a right because of prejudice involving color, national origin, race, religion, or sex.
Discrimination
Anything of value intended to benefit the giver more than the receiver; something given to a person because of that person’s position or authority.
Gratuity
A false statement made under oath which the person speaking does not believe to be true.
Perjury
The release of an inmate from a correctional institution prior to the conclusion of the inmate’s court-imposed sentence.
Parole
The order of authority within an organization.
Chain of command
The part of the legal system responsible for the interpretation of laws.
Court system
The part of the legal system responsible for enforcing punishments outlined by the court system.
Corrections
Unwelcome sexual advances, requests for sexual favors, and other verbal or physical conduct of a sexual nature.
Sexual Harassment
The types of cases in which the court can make decisions.
Jurisdiction
A Latin term meaning, something for something in return.

The standards of conduct based on moral duties and virtues that are derived from the principles of right and wrong.
Ethics
A sentence placing a person under the supervision of a probation officer for specified length of time instead of in confinement.
Probation
The principles, standards, or qualities considered worthwhile or desirable; the core beliefs or desires that guide or motivate attitudes and actions.
Values
Individual conviction about what is right and what is wrong based on religious beliefs, cultural roots, family backgrounds, personal experiences, laws, organizational values, professional norms, and political habits.
Personal values
The structures, functions, and decision making processes of agencies that deal with the management and control of crime and criminal offenders.
Criminal justice
Corruptly to give, offer, or promise to any public servant, or, if a public servant, corruptly to request, solicit, accept, or agree to accept for himself or herself or another, any pecuniary or other benefit not authorized by law.
Bribery
The information that flows down through the supervision level to the lowest levels of the organization.
Vertical communication
A work situation in which lewd jokes or offensive habits are acceptable.
Hostile work environment
When a person with authority grants power to another person.
Delegation of authority
A failure to follow orders from superiors in the chain of command.
Insubordination
Community supervision in which a person is closely monitored and is more restrictive than probation or parole.

Any rules of conduct derived from ethical values.
