Chapter 1 Flashcards
Sagittal Plane of Motion
cuts the body into L + R
forward/backward movements
flexion/extension, hyperextension, dorsiflexion/plantarflexion
Frontal Plane of Motion
cuts the body into front + back
side to side movements
abduction/adduction, lateral flexion, elevation/depression, inversion/eversion, radial/ulnar deviation
Transverse Plane of Motion
cuts the body into top + bottom
rotation movements
left/right rotation, medial/lateral rotation, supination/pronation, horizontal abduction/adduction
Kinematics vs Kinetics
Kinematics: qualitative + quantitative; examines space and time
Kinetics: examines forces
Statics vs Dynamics
Statics: examines systems not moving or moving at a constant speed
Dynamics: examines systems that are being accelerated or deccelerated
Axis of Rotation for Sagittal Plane
Mediolateral
Axis of Rotation for Frontal Plane
Anterioposterior
Axis of Rotation for Transverse Plane
Longitudinal
