Appropriations
Funds allocated by a legislature for a stated purpose as part of a budget or spending bill
Apportionment
Distribution of representatives among the states based on the population of each state
Caucus
An association of Congress members created to pursue a particular goals and interests
Constituents
A person who lives in in the electoral district and is represented by an elected official
For main powers of Congress

Impeachment
Charges against a president approved by a majority of the House of Representatives
Joint resolution
Official statement issued by both houses of Congress. Once signed by the president has the force of law
Majority leader
Legislative leaders selected by the majority party who helps plan party strategy, conference with other party leaders, and tries to keep members of the party in line
Minority leader
principal leader of the minority party in the legislature who determines how his or her party will react to the majority parties programs
Minority Whip
Assistant floor leader of the minority party that keeps their party’s leaders informed about members, and persuades party members to go along party lines
Majority whip
Assistant floor leader of the majority party that keeps their party’s leaders informed about members, and persuades party members to go along party lines
Override
Buy a 2/3 margin, Congress can vote to override, or rivers, a presidents Vito of its legislation
Oversight
Congress overseas executive agencies to make sure they carry out the laws it has passed
Pork
Publicly funded project secured by the legislators to benefit their home districts or states. The funds for such projects are set to come from the “pork barrels “– the state or national treasury
Speaker of the house
Position with the most power and for Prestige in the House of Representatives. Nominated by the majority party and voted in by the entire house.
