Axial- Upright axis of body
-skull, spinal column, sternum, and ribs
Appendicular- upper and lower extremities
- including clavicles, scapulae, arms, wrist, hands, hips, legs, ankles, and feet
Three main forces that cause musculoskeletal injuries
Direct, indirect and twisting
Cravat
A triangular bandage that is folded to a width of three to four inches; used to tie dressing and splints in place
Position of function
Gauze roll helps keep hand in position of function while slinging a hand
Anterior hip dislocation
The leg from hip to foot is rotated out word farther than the uninjured side. Leg rotation also may be an indication of hip fracture
Posterior hip dislocation (most common)
The leg is rotated inward and the knee is usually bent
