Simplex channels are
Transmit. And receive point to point on the same frequency
The simplex channels are 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,10,13 and 16
When using simplex channel a message transmitted by HT will be received by another HT on the same channel if it is within range of transmission radio
1st arriving ladder company when using ARCS
- Used in conjunction with HT
- Officer activate arcs at fire command staton
- Officer instruct member designated to staff the ICP to monitor the tactical and / or repeater channel/ relay message
- Ladder officer remain on channel 1 or switch his HT to building duplex UHF radio repeater CHANNEL ( 11 or 12) or acquire in house radio
- Ensure functional test before leaving lobby
- Officer notify dispatcher to notify incoming units using arcs
6 proceed to location of incident
Range of HT is determined by
- Wattage
- Antenna
- Topography
- Battery strength
- Obstructions
Duplex channels are
Transmit on one frequency but recurve a signal back on a different frequency therefore communications on these channels is only possible when used in conjunction with a duplex UHF repeater system
Dues channels are 11,12,14 and 15
ARCS
Used to enhance FDNY COMMUNICATIONS CONSIST OF : Transmitter receiver Antenna Cabling Use in conjunction with Fdny issued radio com equipment
Two types of ARCS
Programmed to our HT frequencies or
Proprietary frequencies requiring in- house radios to be provided for members
