Members operating on roofs should communicate the following to IC
- Configuration of building
- Fire showing out windows

B. not visible from street
C. Whether exposure affected - Color and volume of smoke from windows
- Persons trapped and exact location
- Location of stairways fire escapes and party wall balconies
- Building fronts more than one street and whether access for apparatus
- Whether there is any difference in height from front to rear , side to side
- Evidence of unusual heat smoke fire in cockloft
- Location parapet dividing walls
10 presence of heating ducts vent ducts AC unites and h2o tanks on roof
The emergency channel is
Channel 16
5 watt
If emergency alert tone on a switch to 16 it will continue unless deactivated
What are the 6 situations that MAYDAY should be transmitted ?
1 COLLAPSE IMMINENT 2. STRUCTURAL COLLAPSE HAS OCCURRED 3. UNCONSCIOUS 4LIFE THREATENING INJURY 5Missing member 6. LOST OR TRAPPED
Note also transmit mayday when LOST , TRAPPED AND MISSING MEMBER FOUND
SO THAT MAKES 10x mayday
If collapse imminent mayday is transmitted the member should transmit to member how and what info
MAYDAY MAYDAY MAYDAY Ladder 54 roof to command MAYDAY
IC RESPONDS command to ladder 54 go ahead with your mayday
LADDER 54 roof to command MAYDAY - COLLAPSE IMMINENT and provide location of imminent collapse and your location
When transmitting a structural collapse mayday you should provide what info
Collapse has occurred and following info :
- Location and extent of collapse
- Number and nature of injuries
- If anyone trapped
When member discovers a unconscious member or member with life threatening injury member should provide following info
LUNIR. FAR
- location
- Unit of member
- Nature and extent if injuries
- I’d of injured member
- Resources needed

IMMEDIATE MEDICAL CARE
REMOVAL
When a mayday is transmitted for a missing member include following info
LUNA. FAIR
- Last known location or reference point
- Unit the member is working in that tour
- Name of affected member
- Assignment

If a missing member is located transmit the following info with mayday
Location
I’d of member(s) reported missing
Any imminent conditions affecting member(s)
Resource needed to reach safety
If mayday or urgent given normal HT transmission may resume
Completion of emergency message or signal unless otherwise ordered by IC
Mayday
Transmission is indication that life- threatening situation has developed
If possible transmitting member press EAB BUTTON before giving mayday
After message acknowledged the member can deactivate EAB “ beacon “ tone IS NO LONGER REQUIRED
If a member becomes lost or trapped give a MAYDAY and provide following info:
Lost or trapped member shall not activate pass until all vital info has been given to IC
PROVIDE:
1. Location if known , if unknown provide last recognizable reference point
2. Identity and number of members involved
3. Any imminent conditions that might affect trapped members .. Such as fire , air
A member who finds the trapped or lost member(s) provide the following info
- Identity of members involved
- Location
- Any imminent conditions that might affect trapped/lost members .. FAIR
- Resource needed to reach safety
