What is the social dimension?
This dimension encourages a collectivist view of the world—that of contributing to society, helping others, and valuing the concept of
interdependence between ourselves and our environment.
Ex: on a college or university campus would include peer helping, special event planning
What is the occupational dimension?
- Finding enrichment through our work or vocation can enhance our well-being.
-In a well work environment, you
contribute your skills and talents to your community and enjoy work that is meaningful and rewarding.
What is the spiritual dimension?
- Identifying our basic purpose
in life; learning how to experience love, joy, peace, and fulfillment; and helping ourselves and others
achieve our potential are all aspects of the spiritual dimension.
What is the physical dimension?
- Physical wellness is met through
participation in regular physical activity.
-Being physically active helps us maintain a healthy body weight or body mass index.
What is the intellectual dimension?
Intellectual wellness refers to your ability to think and learn from life experience, your openness to new ideas, and your capacity to question and evaluate information.
What is the emotional dimension?
Emotional wellness includes
the degree to which one feels positive and enthusiastic about oneself and life.
What is the environmental dimension?
Environmental wellness includes being respectful of and attempting to live in harmony with nature.
It means ensuring the stability and longevity of our natural resources.

What are the behaviors that affect one’s health?
Behaviors that affect your health:-
- Exercising regularly
- Eating a balanced nutritious diet
- Seeking care for symptoms
-Taking the necessary steps to overcome illness and restore well-being
What are the factors that shape positive behavior?
- Predisposing factors: beliefs, values etc
- Enabling factors: skills, capabilities etc
- Reinforcing factors: praise, rewards etc

What are the stages of change?
- Precontemplation: not aware of a problem
- Contemplation: aware of a problem & may considers a change within 6 months
- Preparation: intend to change within 1 month
- Action: modifying their behaviour according to their plan
- Maintenance: continue to work at changing their behaviour and may take from 6 months to a lifetime.
- Termination: behaviour is deeply ingrained and becomes a new habit. This may take 2 to 5 years
