What was Arundel like in the 1960s?
A small market town, 2600 population. Shops were locally owned and provided for locals. The Castle Estate provided much-needed employment for 400 locals. There was a small council estate built on the fringe, and 21% of the population was retired.

The Globe Theatre and Tate Modern formed part of South Bank’s cultural complex.
Traditional industry jobs declines and were replaced by public services or creative industries.
There were commercial developments and housing built in converted warehouses.

There was restructuring company-wide, and redundancies of approx 30,000 in Wolfsburg. Chiropractors forecasted a 25% drop in patients, and redundancies hit shops & supply firms, many filing for bankruptcy.
