Define Proactive change
An approach where the manager implements change in an attempt to avoid a future threat or capitalise on an opportunity that may arise in the future
Define Reactive change
An approach where the manager implements change as a response to a threat or to capitalise on an opportunity that is already available
How can a manager be proactive (3)
- Using KPI’s to forecast trends that might occur in future
- Meeting or interviewing stakeholders to explore changes that might improve efficiency or effectiveness
- Being innovative to create new products or services
How can a manager be reactive (3)
- Follow competitors successful changes
- Deal with a crisis that was unforeseen
- Respond to changing forces in social attitudes
Define Business change
Business change is a planned or unplanned alteration to a business/work environment, driven by pressures from the internal or external environment.
Define KPI’s
Key performance indicators are the criterion used by a manger to assess the performance of the business in achieving objectives
