Muscles of the ears, scalp, neck, eyes, nose, & mouth are all innervated by
7th cranial nerve

What is the action of the orbicularis oris?
Closes/compresses lips
What is the origin of the orbicularis oris?
Anterior nasal spine
Where is the insertion of the orbicularis oris?
Skin of lips
What is the action of the levator labii superioris?
Elevates the upper lip
What is the origin of the levator labii superioris?
Lower rim of the orbit
Where is the insertion of the levator labii superioris?
Orbicularis oris
What is the action of the zygomaticus minor?
Raises upper lip
What is the origin of the zygomaticus minor?
Zygomatic bone
Where is the insertion of the zygomaticus minor?
Orbicularis oris; lateral to the levator labii superioris
What is the action of the zygomaticus major?
Elevates the corners of the mouth (smile)
What is the origin of of the zygomaticus major?
Zygomatic bone
Where is the insertion of the zygomaticus major?
Into the orbicularis oris at the angle of the mouth
What is the action of the levator anguli oris?
Pulls the angles of the mouth up & toward the midline
What is the origin of the levator anguli oris?
Maxilla
Where is the insertion of the levator anguli oris?
Orbicularis oris (commissures)
