Items that must be on flight crewmember’s person at all items while acting as a crewmember
- Pilot cert
- Current medical
- FCC Restricted Radiotelephone license
- Passport
- AMF flight crew ID
- Airport specific ID (SIDA)
- Ameriflight HAZMAT card
High Mins Captain
Turboprop captains with less than 100 hours PIC in type must:
- Increase MDA/DA 100’
- Increase visibility 1/2sm
**Note: these additions do not apply to alternate airport
Scuba Diving
Prohibited within 24 hours of showing for duty
Blood donations
Prohibited within 72 hours of showing for duty
Flight crew pairing
Crew will not be scheduled together unless at least one of the crewmembers has logged at least 25 hours in the respective position
First officer limitations
- FO will not takeoff in visibility less than 1sm
- FO will not land in visibility less than 1/2sm
135.299 PIC line check
“Line check”
- must be completed at least once every 12 months
135.293 Initial and recurrent pilot testing req’ts
- must be completed every 12 months
- .293(a) oral portion
- .293(b) flight competency portion
135.297 IPC
- Must be completed every 6 months
- Will be in alternating equipment types if crewmember is qualified more than one aircraft type
Class G airport operations
AMF is authorized, provided the airport has the following:
- IAP
- Approved source of weather
- Source for acquiring timely traffic advisory (CTAF)
- Facilities and services required to safely conduct IFR ops are available/operational at time of use
When can you cancel IFR and proceed night VFR to an airport?
- Within 10nm of destination
- airport continuously in sight
- WX is at least 4000’ and 10sm
Use of supplemental O2
- 135.157 states each pilot must have at least two hours supply of oxygen
- Cabin altitudes between 10,000-12,000’ for more than 30 minutes, crews must use oxygen
- All times above 12,000’
Max tailwind components
- max for all AMF aircraft is 10kts
- max for ‘fair’ braking action = 5kts
- max for ‘poor’ braking action = 0kts
AMF reportable events
- safety equipment/procedures are defective and deficiencies exist in operating procedures, processes or manuals
- system defect occurs which adversely affects the handling characteristics of an aircraft on the ground or in the air
- incorrect loading of fuel, cargo or dg
- a rejected takeoff is executed (after takeoff power is established) or runway/taxiway excursion occurs
In-flight problems:
- navigation error
- altitude excursion of more than 300’
- communications fail/impairment
- warnings of smoke or fire
- crew or passengers become seriously ill/injured/incapacitated
- encounter with violent/armed/intoxicated pax
- aircraft lands with less than planned reserve fuel
- excessive duty times
- crews rushing through checks
- inadequate tool or equipment control
- failure to adhere to SOP
- lack of up to date technical manuals
- poor shift changeovers
- runway incursions
- lack of adequate training/recurrent training
