Q

Asthenosphere-

A

A layer below the lithosphere that is soft and bendable

16
Q

The outer core-

A

a layer of molten metal that surrounds the inner core.

17
Q

Inner core-

A

a dense ball of solid metal

18
Q

What are the three types of heat transfer?

A

Radiation, Conduction, Convection

19
Q

Radiation-

A

The transfer of heat through an empty space

20
Q

Heat transfer-

A

The movement of energy from a warmer object to a cooler object.

21
Q

Conduction-

A

Heat transfer by direct contact of particles of matter

22
Q

Convection-

A

Heat transfer by the movement of heated fluid

23
Q

Density-

A

The measure of how much mass or gravity is in an object

24
Q

Convection current-

A

The flow that transfers heat within a fluid.

25
Q

What causes convection currents?

A

Heat from the mantle and core

26
Q

What was Wagner’s theory?

A

All the continents had once been joined together in a single landmass and have since drifted apart.

27
Q

What was the name of Wagner’s theory?

A

Continental Drift

28
Q

What are the evidences of Wagner’s Theory from Landmasses?

A

1.The continents fit together like a puzzle. 2. The mountain chains in Africa and South America line up when they are put together.

29
Q

Evidence from Fossils-

A
  1. Glosspeteris are a fern that are found in areas where it couldn’t grow such as, Desserts in Africa, Antarctica. 2. Mesosuarus is a crocodile found in Africa and South America, it couldn’t swim across the atlantic so it evolve the exact same on two different islands.
30
Q

Evidence from climate-

A
  1. Glacier scratches- found in hot places like Austraila, Africa, and India. 2. Tropical plants- found in places they couldnt grow. 3. Coal fields- coal is made from tropical plants being buried over years, coal mines in non-tropical areas.
31
Q

What does Pangea mean?

A

It means all lands, and that is what Wagner named all the continents put together.
