What is mundane realism?
degree to which an experiment is superficially similar to everyday situations
What is experimental realism?
the degree to which an experiment absorbs and involves its participants
Define ontology and epistemology.
O: looks at how we view reality and existance
E: sources of knowledge and their validity
What is positivism?
social reality that is objective and can be observed and measured
What is social constructivism?
the view that truth claims are socially created or constructed
What is critical social psychology?
questions over reliance on traditional scientific methods and acknowledges the role of social, political, and historical contexts in human behaviour
What is reductionism?
reducing behaviour to individual level, ignoring social context
What differentiates culture bound and culture blind research?
culture bound research is derived from a particular cultural background, and culture blind research has not been tested beyond the host/dominant culture
What are some alternatives for deception?
roleplaying, archival research, naturalistic observational studies, surveys
