• Change in pH causes change in shape of active site of enzyme
• Substrate cannot fit in the active site to form enzyme-substrate complex

How to carry an investigation to find out whether ordinary washing powder of biological washing powder is more effective

Answer 2

• Use two similar skirts with identical fat stains
• Put the two skirts separately into equal volumes of the two washing powder of same concentration
• Time of washing should be the same
• Water temperature should be kept at 50C (optimum temperature)
• Compare the size / intensity of stains after washing
• The more effective the washing powder, the smaller / lighter the stain
• Repeat the investigation at different water temperatures to see if the effectiveness of different washing powders is affected by water temperature
