She is a widow, she loves her garden, she loves nature, she is proper, she is elegant.
What she means is that people are too worried about their future life that they don’t think of living their present life.

That something rare is about to happen.That there is a change coming. Or something dangerous(house fire).
What did Atticus mean when he said that if he didn’t defend Tom Robinson, Jem and Scout wouldn’t have to mind him any more?
Because if he didn’t try this impossible case, then he can’t tell his kids that they shouldn’t give up when he has. It would be meaningless.
What were Aunt Alexandra’s views on child rearing, especially in regard to girls?
She believed girls should wear dresses all the time. Girls should also play with small stoves, tea sets, and be a ray of sunshine.
Atticus mentions “Maycomb’s usual disease.” What did he mean?
Atticus meant that the disease is people hating on African Americans for no apparent reason.
