A
  1. Filtration: water goes through series of screens to remove trash
  2. Chemicals are added to form sticky flocs
  3. Floc sink to bottom
  4. Filter water again through sand to remove algae, bacteria and chemical
  5. Chlorine is added to kill organisms
  6. Water is aerated for better taste and odor
  7. Add sodium or lime to soften the water

A
  1. sewage enters the system through the inlet pipe, bacteria breaks down the waste
  2. Less-dense waste float to the top of the septic tank, needs to be pumped out
  3. Denser waste sink to the bottom of the septic tank, needs to be pumped out
  4. Water and waste go to the leach field through the outlet pipe
