What does HELLP stand for
Hemolysis, Elevated Liver enzymes, Low Platelets
Sx of preeclampsia
Clonus, ^ DTR, Persistent Headache, blurred vision, high BP, ^ AST + ALT, ^ LDH, low platelets, proteinuria
Treatment of preeclampsia
Administer Mag Sulfate, dim lights/reduce noise, initiate seizure precautions, have suction, STRICT I/O
Lab tests that are drawn with preeclampsia
AST/ALT/LDH, CBC w/ platelet count, pt/INR
Meds given to treat Preeclampsia
Mag Sulfate (CNS depressant)
Hydralazine (Calcium Channel Blocker
Labetalol (Beta Blocker)
Complications with preeclampsia
Amniotic fluid embolism, Seizures, Acute renal failure, cardio/hepatomegaly,
Baby of preeclamptic mother might have these symptoms
Kidneys & Lungs
DIC clotting problem
Bleeding and Clotting at the same time, figure out which ones is most prevalent
DIC clotting pattern
Affects liver -> affects clotting factors -> affects clotting cascade
