Cause
legal term identifies an event or action that directly causes another event to occur
Proximate Cause
damage has to occur or negligence does not exist
harm
if an individual is aware of the risks involved in participating in an activity but still chooses to participate, then he/she is assuming @ least part of the responsibility in the event of injury
Assumption of Risk
exists when the actions of the athlete contributed to the injury they suffered
Contributory negligence
plaintiff is still allowed to recover damages but amount will be reduced based on extent of their responsibilities
Comparative negligence
regulates the actual practice of the profession & establishes guidelines to direct practice

regulates who may carry a title or hold
