Determine treatment, communicate about cases, conduct research, and document billing

Published in May, 2013 by the American Psychiatric Association(who are the medical doctors who can prescribe medicine), title revisions released, April 2022 and significant revision from previous editions
Neurodevelopment Disorders
Autism spectrum disorder and Intellectual disability
Autism Spectrum Disorder
A disorder of perception and have a heightened touch, sound, or vision; Like predictability and order and not being able to see other people’s body language and tone of voice
Intellectual Disability
Formerly mental retardation
Schizophrenia
Disorder of thoughts; delusions and disorder of perceptions; hallucinations
Bipolar Disorder
Mood swings between mania (overly positive, high energy, heightened perception) and depression (low energy, low mood)
Depressive Disorder
Low mood, low energy, loss of appetite, and loss of interest in friends, and hobbies; symptoms must last at least 2 weeks
Bipolar I, Bipolar II, and Cyclothymic disorders
Mania, Depressed, both but not intense
Anxiety Disorders
Panic attacks; racing heart, sweaty palms, difficulty breathing or hyperventilating; may be unfocused or limited to specific situations
Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder
Obsessions: Intrusive thoughts; Compulsions: ritualistic behaviors; Hoarding disorder
Trauma and Stress Related Disorders
Adjustment disorders; Post traumatic stress disorders
Post Traumatic Stress Disorder
You lived through a traumatic event and it can be triggered by certain events
Dissociative Disorders
Problems with memory, identity, emotion, perception, behavior and sense of self; feeling of being outside of one’s body or detachment
