Psychological disorder

disorders that appear to be greatly influenced by the cultural factors that occur far less frequently ot are manifested in very different ways, in other cultura; contexts
Culture bound disorder (hikikomori)
people shut themselves off from the outside world, stay inside and refuse to come out for years (failing to succeed in social world)
Koro
anxiety that their “private parts” are shrinking into their body

Arctic hysteria
a unique hysterical attack observed among atric unit communities, particularly among women (tear off clothes and roll in snow)
universal syndromes
highlight the biological bases of these psychopathologies (manifestations and prevalence may differ across culture)

when you experience at least 5 of the 9 symtoms under MDD
