how all the family members are individually affected by the health event of one family member. all family members are the foreground. This approach is primarily used in communities with primary care workers providing care to all individuals of a family (think dr.este, family doctors)
define family as a system
views the whole family as the client. Family is viewed as an interactional system. the family in whole is more than the sum of its parts. basically the family members become the target for the nursing interventions. questions can be “what changed between you and your spouse when you had kids?”
define family as a component of society?
family is viewed as one of the many institutions in society. basically it holds the same status as health, education, economic. questions may be, “what issues has the family been experiencing since you made the school aware of your son’s diagnosis of HIV?”
The family is seen as one of many institutions in society, along with health, education, religious, or financial institutions. The family as a whole interacts with other institutions to receive, exchange, or give services and communicate.
