What is Sancerre AOC known for?
Location: West Bank of the river, directly across from Pouilly-sur-loire.
Grapes: (W) Sauvignon Blanc
(R) Pinot Noir (25% of production)
Soils:
Terre blanche – Kimmeridgeon clay which is half to one meter of sticky clay top soil over limestone.
Caillottes – small stones over limestone
Silex – flint over limestone
What is Menetou-Salon AOC known for?
Small area adjoining Sancerre that produces reds, whites and rose’s from sauvignon blanc, pinot noir and Gamay
What is Quincy AOC known for?
Located west of Bourgues on the west bank of the river Cher.
The only AOC wine is made from Sauvignon Blanc
The reds and rose’s produced here are labeled a Vin de pays.
What is Reuilly AOC known for?
Located south west of and close to Quincy
It produces white wines made from Sauvignon blanc
Reds from Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris which are also made at AOC level.
What is Vin de O’Leanais AOC?
Orléans produces white wines from chardonnay and pinot Gris as well as reds and rose from pinot noir and pinot Meunier
What is Orleans Clery AOC?
Red wine only produced from cabernet franc
