Q

Describe 3 structures within the mitochondria

A

Outter membrane allows only small molecules, like glucose through.

Space between inner and outter membrane is called the matrix. Contains enzymes for respiration and genetic information so can replicate itself.

Inner membrane folds to form cristae. Folded cristae means more membrane can fit in mitochondria, maximizing surface area thus rate of respiration as gases can be more optimally diffused.
