what is the levels of organisation studied in biology
atoms, molecule, cell, tissue, organ, body system, organism, population, community, ecosystems
what is a simple definition of the levels of organisation
The level of organisation relate to all living things, helps us to understand the structure of living things
what is a living thing?

Reproduction
Equilibrium
Excretion
Nutrition
what are cells?
cells are the basic structure of all living things,
are there any cells visible to the unaided eye
some are visible but most are unseen
what is the cell theory
the cell is the smallest living unit, all organisms are composed of cells, all cells come from preexisting cells
why are cells so small
cells use their surface to exchange nutrients and wastes. to take in sufficient nutrients and gasses, being small gives them a large surface area to volume ratio. allowing it to exchange what it needs with its environment to survive
what are the two main type of cells
prokaryotic and eukaryotic
what is a prokaryotic cell
Evolved 3.8 billion years ago.
Bacteria is the main type of this cell.
They are always singular celled.
Have no nucleus or other membrane bound organelles.
They have a cell wall.
They have one large circular piece of dna, some have smaller pieces called plasmids.
Smaller than the eukaryotic cell.
What is a eukaryotic cell
Evolved around 2.7 billion years ago.
Most cells other then bacteria.
They can be single celled or multi celled.
They have a nucleus and other membrane bound organelles.
They have linear pieces of dna
what are some things about plant cells
They have a cell wall (cellulose) that give the cell shape.
Some plants contain chloroplast to enable photosynthesis to occur, most have a large vacuole.
what are some things animal cells
they do not have a cell wall.
they have many vesicles rather then just one
