Cells Flashcards
What is the function of the cytoplasm?
It is the site of many metabolic reactions including respiration.
What is the function of the mitochondrion?
Produces ATP from aerobic. ATP is used for cell processes e.g.
-active transport
-protein synthesis.
What is the function of a nucleus?
-DNA contains genetic code for making proteins
-nucleolus manufactures ribosomes
-separates the concepts of the nucleus from the rest of the cell. Has pores to allow RNA to pass through
What is the function of a plasma membrane?
Selectively permeable. allows cell identification
What is the function of the RER?
Synthesis and transport of proteins through cytoplasm.
What is the function of the SER?
Synthesis and transport of lipids.
Draw a nucleus and label
.
What is the function of the Golgi apparatus and vesicles?
Modified proteins that are made in the cell. packages them into vesicles.
