Cell Structure And Function Flashcards
Which cells membrane has the lowest lipid content and why?
Inner mitochondrial membrane
-had the most protein
What is a liposome and a micelles
Liposome= 3D complete sphere structure with lipid bilayer (what cells actually look like)
Micelles= 3D however no bilayer (monolayer)
Cell organelles list 6 and their function in the cell
Rough ep Micro filament Lysosomes Mitochondion Vault Centriole Micro tubule Ribosome Exocytotic vessicle Golgi conplex Cytosol
Nucleus function and parts
Nuclear envelope, chromatin, nucleus, nuclear pores
Stores genetic material
Mitochondrion parts and function
Parts= cristae, intermembrane space, inner membrane, outer membrane, matrix Function= energy production
Where would we find mitochondrion most?
Muscle tissue
Endoplasmic reticulum smooth and rough
Rough- involved in packaging proteins
Smooth- involved in synthesis of lipid molecules, and storing ions
Ribosomes (function)
They are protein factories
Lysosomes and peroxisomes
Lysosomes- carry degrading enzymes
Peroxisomes - produce h2o2 to breakdown foreign matter
They are similar except lysosomes are more enzyme based and are focused on recycling
Golgi complex
Packaging things for secretion, important in endocrine tissue
What are Vesicles
Intracellular bubbles that link structures of the body together
What are vaults? And where are they found?
They are a organelle that does not have an exact function found in cancer cells
What are the 3 main components of the cytoskeleton?
Micro tubules, micro filaments and intermediate filaments
What is the function of the cytoskeleton?
Provide structure /framework for specific types of cells to connect to the membrane and provides a transport mechanism
Kinesia, what is it’s function and how does it do it?
Transports cargo along the microtuble.. It is a protein and it sort of walks along
