Cell Structure Flashcards
What do animal cells have?
Nucleus Cytoplasm Cell membrane Ribosomes Mitochondria
What do plant cells have?
Nucleus Cytoplasm Cell membrane Ribosomes Mitochondria Vacuole Cell wall Chloroplasts
Give two Micro-Organisms;
fungi and bacteria
What are fungi cells similar to but do not have?
Fungi Cells are similar to Plant Cells but do not chloroplasts
How are Bacteria Cells different?
because they have no organelles such as nucleus
What is different in the walls of bacterial, fungal and plant cells?
The chemical
What are plant cells made of?
They are made of a structural carbohydrate called Cellulose
What is Cellulose freely permeable to?
Cellulose is freely permeable to all molecules
How can you see a cell’s structure more clearly?
If we use stains to colour specimens before putting them under the microscope.
What does the cell wall helps to maintain?
The cell’s rigid structure
Give me an example of a stain?
iodine
What extra circular pieces of DNA do Bacteria cells have?
Plasmids
What is the function of Nucleus and which cell is it found in?
Nucleus controls cell acutivies, contains DNA and is found in plant, animal and fungus cells.
What is the function of Cytoplasm and which cell is it found in?
Cytoplasm is the site of many chemical reactions and is found in all cell types
What is the function of Cell Wall and which cell is it found in?
Cell wall gives the cell a rigid structure and is found in all plant, fungus and bacteria cells
