Cell Organisation And Circulatory System Flashcards
Define tissues
A group of similar cells that work in unison to carry out a function
Cells differentiate and become specialised to form…
Tissues which will form organs which form organ systems.
define organs
A group of different tissues which work in unison to carry out a function
Define organ system
A group of organs working together to carry out a function
How many chambers and vessels does the heart have
4 of each
What type of blood does the right atrium receive?
Deoxygenated from the body through the VENA CAVA.
What does the deoxygenated blood do?
It travels to the right ventricle through the valves and is then pumped to be lungs through the PULMONARY ARTERY
What type of blood does the left atrium receive?
Oxygenated blood from the lungs through the PULMONARY VEIN
When does the oxygenated blood travel?
Through the left ventricle to the whole body through the aorta
Why does the LEFT ventricle have a thicker wall than the right?
It needs more muscle as it pumps blood around the whole body not just the lungs.
What is the job of valves
Prevent back flow of blood
