Cell organisation Flashcards
What are specialised cells in cell organisation?
cells have evolved to carry out specific functions
they need different adaptations to do this efficiently
What is the process of cell organisation?
specialised cell to tissue to organ to organ system
What is a tissue?
a group of cells working together to perform a specific function
What is an organ?
a group of tissues working together to perform a specific function
What is an organ system?
a group of organs working together to perform a specific function
Give an example of a specialised cell or cell organisation
epithelial cell -> epithelial tissue -> small intenstine -> digestive system
looks like a long crown connected with other crowns
has a microvili which increases surface area and more absorption
has lots of mitochondria and ATP for active transport
